PROTECTION BOX SINGLE-PHASE AND THREE-PHASE

PERTURBATIONS ON THE MAINS NETWORK HAVE DIFFERENT ORIGINS, BUT TRANSIENT OVER VOLTAGES ARE THE MOST DANGEROUS BECAUSE MOST OF THE ELECTRIC EQUIPMENT RISKS SERIOUS DEGRADATIONS.

A COMPLETE PROTECTION WITH THE CONTINUITY OF SERVICE AND THE SYSTEM SECURITY CAN BE ONLY INSURED WITH A PRODUCT LIKE THE SUPTRANS : THE GUARANTY OF A VERY LOW RESIDUAL VOLTAGE IN CASE OF A SHOCK.

BUT THE PROTECTION BY A SUPTRANS IS AN EXPENSIVE INVESTMENT FACE TO THE MATERIAL, AND THE CONTINUITY OF SERVICE IS NOT ALWAYS A PRIORITY.

THERE ARE PRODUCTS BEARING HIGH TRANSIENT OVER VOLTAGES THANKS TO THEIR HARDINESS. in all cases, PROTECTION BOXES 2P, 3P, 4P, 6P, 8P 9P AND 10P ARE AN EFFICIENT AND A RELIABLE SOLUTION, ALLOWING THE LIMITATION OF OVER VOLTAGES EFFECTS ON THE INSTALLATIONS.

PRINCIPLE : The principle of the protection boxes is very simple : It consists on placing between each phase (or neutral) and the ground, a component with non-linear characteristics.

The protection box will take place between the equipment to protect and the mains distribution. These components are varistors with great flowing. During a shock, the internal resistance of the varistor decreases highly to a value of less than 0.1 Ohm, making a preferential link of the current to the earth.

The residual over voltage remains less than 2500V with a current which can reach the value of 40000 A. When the over voltage has ended, the varistor recovers an internal resistance quite infinite, and a very low capacity , and then the installations running is not perturbed.

The response time of the varistor is quite instantaneous, less than 10-9 second, making it the more efficient component for this application. After a very important shock (> 40 000A), or when the varistors are in end of life, the varistors make a short-circuit, releasing the circuit-breakers of the installations or the one placed before the protection box.

The advantages are numerous :

  • One model for all powers
  • Small dimensions and low weight
  • Easy connecting
  • Response time

INTRODUCING : The protection boxes have three parts : A ground terminal, where the earth is connected, electrically linked to the bottom plate made of aluminium. Fuse-isolators with neutral tubes. The varistors allows to insulate during a control or a substitution without cutting the power source. The box (with cable glands on your request, if you specify the cables section --> IP 55) is made of polycarbonate, with a transparent cover. This box has four fixing plugs.

OPTIONS ( NFC 61740 ) : All the protection boxes can be equipped with varistors including end of life disconnecting device. The disconnection of these components is signalled on isolated dry contact.
